From empowering local voices to hosting new collaborations, the festival highlighted the strength and creativity of Grenada and the wider Caribbean.
This year, we welcomed home diasporic filmmakers, saw record audience growth, and honored cultural icons like Tanya Taylor, Roy Cape, and Nikki Giovanni. We also made an impact through community initiatives, inspiring the next generation of storytellers.

Giaka and Kibwe Tavares: A Homecoming to Inspire Grenada’s Creative Future
The 12°N, 61°W Grenada Film Festival (1261 Film Festival) welcomes acclaimed London-born brothers, Giaka and Kibwe Tavares, as they return to their roots with a mission to inspire Grenada's creative industry. With deep ties to Grenada through their mother, these internationally renowned artists will bring their unique talents in music and film to the festival. Giaka, a celebrated musician, will perform live at the Opening Gala and host masterclasses for local artists. Kibwe, an award-winning filmmaker and Netflix director, will share his expertise in filmmaking through a series of workshops aimed at empowering the next generation of Grenadian storytellers.
