1261 Film Festival Announces 2022 Dates.

The 2022 festival will take place both in-person and virtually from October 26 through 30.

Mprojekts Creative Group, the producers of the international 12°N61°W Film Festival (1261 Film Festival) has announced the dates for its fourth edition, which will be held from October 26 to October 30, 2022, in Grenada. Submissions for the event are currently open via the festival’s website and close on August 28, 2022.

On May 5, 2022, the anniversary date of its inaugural festival in 2019, Mprojekts Creative Group, in collaboration with the Office of Diaspora Affairs, hosted an exclusive VIP Cocktail Event at the historical Grenada National museum to kick off the 2022 season. A specially curated program of Grenadian music videos and films, including Searching for Crystal by Meschida Philip and Reimagining the Artform and AfroFuturism & Our heART by DanceGrenada.

According to Meschida Philip, Founder and Executive Director, "1261FF is an essential contributor to Grenada's cultural, economic, and social development and a vital link to the regional and international film industry chain. It offers a global outreach for films, audience attention, and distribution deals opportunities for Grenada's next generation of creative practitioners, thinkers, and filmmakers' true potential."

Organizers are planning a hybrid approach of in-person and online screenings for the 5-day festival, similar to the approach 1261FF took in 2020, hosting the festival at the Annandale Waterfall & Forest Park.  The planning team are partnering with Grenadian vendors to provide an "ALL Grenadian Experience," from culinary to land/sea excursions and music to other cultural experiences. The experiences packages will be available from August on the 1261 Film Festival website.

Call for Submissions are currently open via the festival’s website and close on August 28, 2022. Grenadian creatives - emerging and seasoned - locally and in the diaspora are encouraged to submit works for consideration to be presented at this year's "Grenadian Night."  The 1261 Film Festival accepts content that depicts the multiculturalism and diversity our culture and rooted in cultural, political, and social elements relatable to or represents the experiences of the Caribbean and African diaspora globally.
