Director’s Bio: Jamil Akim O'Quinn
A native of Compton, California who was most recently seen touring with Broadway's first national tour of The Book of Mormon. As a person who has always been incredibly diverse in his skills and abilities the three words that best describe his mission in broader society are; Educate, Empower, and Entertain. From early childhood to the present Jamil O'Quinn has excelled academically, while concurrently managing a professional career in film, television, and theater (Co-starred in Disney's Gone Fishin'). Jamil O'Quinn received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley where he majored in Sociology, and Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies, while also completing the Pre-Medicine curriculum. Additionally, while at Berkeley Jamil O'Quinn released his first publication of three through the McNair's Scholar Program entitled, "Black MASKulinity", where he researched the complexities of sexuality within the black male population of UC Berkeley, and wrote and directed his first stage play entitled "Blackness: Perspectives of Color". Upon completion of graduate school at Princeton Jamil has held professorship positions at Prince George's Community College, Montgomery College Rockville, and the University of the District of Columbia. He has also partnered with United Nations as faculty advisor for high school aged children of global leaders from over 50 countries. In August of 2018 Jamil Akim O'Quinn will begin a Master of Fine Arts program at Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television in the Writing for Screen program.
