Director’s Bio: Lande Yoosuf

Lande Yoosuf (Director) is a Writer/Director with over 12+ years of experience in non-fiction development, casting and production. Her short film Privilege Unhinged screened at festivals such as the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival and is currently airing on the television channel Shorts TV. She wrapped her festival run for her second film Second Generational Wedding and is now developing the retitled feature version. The projects Lande works on cover themes of media influence, sociology, gender and race relations, pop culture and self image. Lande has over 10 years of experience casting at networks such as MTV, NBC, WEtv, truTV and Bravo to name a few. Ultimately, Lande hopes to contribute to increased control, ownership, and management of media for content creators of African descent across all available content platforms. She is the co-founder of a nonprofit known as Black Film Space. Lande graduated from Brooklyn College with a B.A. in TV and Radio. She resides in the Brooklyn, New York.

Committed to creating content that makes the silenced voices heard and the invisible faces seen. Her work centers on women of the African Diaspora. She served as a producer for Adrian Luke Sinclair’s film Conjure, which won the Vanguard Award in the 2017 Hip Hop Film Festival. As a playwright, her work has premiered in theatres throughout New York, New Jersey and in Kampala, Uganda. Her tv/film acting credits includes Night Comes On, Daredevil, Brooklyn Park, Gypsy, Law & Order: SVU, Signs of Aging (by Tara Gadomski), and Conjure. She received her MFA in Acting from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. IG @antuyacob
