ShCreates Caribbean Presents The Crossing
The Crossing has been nominated for the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Caribbean Film Awards, taking place October 10, 2026, at Theater N in Wilmington, Delaware.
Alicia Walker (Jamaica) and Jadyn Roberts (Trinidad) wrote and directed The Crossing, which introduces Grenadian actors Sabrina Francis and René De Riggs in their first on-screen roles. The film highlights emerging women's voices in Caribbean cinema while showcasing new Grenadian talent.
The film previously screened at the 1261 Grenada Film Festival and at CARIFESTA XV, and is now nominated for the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the 2026 Caribbean Film Awards.

SheCreates Caribbean Lab was a groundbreaking 12-week hybrid residency that placed Caribbean women at the forefront of storytelling innovation.
Built for emerging and mid-career creatives, our inaugural cohort of six women from across the Caribbean blended film, immersive media, and AI-powered tools with deep cultural roots and mentorship from global and regional leaders — shaping the future of immersive Caribbean cinema and storytelling.
Together, they produced three short films, including The Crossing, now nominated for the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the 2026 Caribbean Film Awards.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
📚 Phase 1: Foundations
(Weeks 1–5 · Virtual)
Participants developed their project ideas through virtual workshops, mentorship, and AI storytelling tools like ChatGPT and Runway.
🌴 Phase 2: Residency in Grenada
(Weeks 6–7 · In-Person)
The cohort worked hands-on in Grenada to bring their concepts to life, guided by mentors, local creatives, and each other.
🎥 Phase 3: Post-Production & Showcase
(Weeks 8–12 · Virtual + Festival)
Filmmakers completed and refined projects, each crafting a marketing and festival strategy. The cohort's work premieres at the 1261 Grenada Film Festival.
